Gerald Wallace - Fantasy BasketballIt isn’t often that we have ourselves a five-game week for any team.  It also isn’t often that you would rather own Andrew Bogut than Chris Bosh.  Yes, you read that right.  As always, the Dropping Dimes staff is here for the lowdown on the rest of the Association.

Here’s a breakdown of this week’s games:

Andrew Bynum - Fantasy Basketball

Wire to Wire aims to be your waiver wire resource for all of your fantasy basketball needs. It will dive into playing time trends, injury replacements, and even an occasional category specialist—all of which can be found on a typical waiver wire within your fantasy league at any given time.

We may as well cut to the chase this week, as owners everywhere are scrambling to cover their losses as Los Angeles Lakers big man Andrew Bynum will miss considerable time with a knee injury.  Last week, Bynum continued to be one of the biggest surprises in the fantasy game.  This week, he’s relegated to taking up a slot on the end of a bench because you simply cannot drop a player of his caliber.  We’ll explore options for owners in all formats, and even sprinkle in a few other names for good measure.

I dunno if anyone’s been following REAL basketball (I know, I know, we aren’t supposed to care about that) but maybe you should take a look at the standings.  Some weird stuff is going on.  Washington a four seed?  What?  Portland a three seed?  Utah and Houston out of the playoffs?  I know it’s early, but wow.  Nobody called that in September and October.  But good for those up and coming teams (although I’m not so sure you can call the Wizards that).

Anyways, I’m done ranting, here’s the slate of games for next week: (1/14-1/20)

The Fig Cap: How old are you anyway?

Big thanks to The Cavalier over at YAYsports! for hosting the most recent edition of the NBA Carnival.  Even bigger thank you for including Dropping Dimes in the mix.  Go check it out here.

And while I’m here, I may as well let you all know of a pet project of mine called The Cleveland Sports Minute.  Obviously, you’ll only be really interested if you’re in or around the Cleveland area.  But you can at least humor me by clicking on this link and telling me what you think in the comments below.

Thanks, all.

While most editions of Wire to Wire have a theme, I can honestly say that this week’s is strictly based on upside potential.  We have a couple of rookies, a couple of veterans, and even a fantasy stud that could be returning from a certain neck injury of his own.  The Brandon Roy injury may shake things up in Portland a bit, but with the ‘Blazers not playing until Wednesday, the reigning Rookie of the Year will have some time for his tailbone to heal.

So Far, So Good…

Chirs Paul - Fantasy Basketball(Well…mostly)

Happy New Year, all.  As I sit here on this wonderfully snowy Cleveland day, I thought it would be a good time to break down some positional rankings year-to-date.  You know, a little bit of “who did what” in 2007.  But only this half of 2007, not the one that ended in a sweep of my Cavaliers with entirely too many Eva Longoria shots.  But I digress.

Let’s dig into the each position, breaking down the first quarter* of the 2007-08 season.

Can a week go by without a big-named player landing on the injury report?  It’s not looking to be the case this week as two of the game’s more prominent small forwards will miss considerable time, and the possible Rookie of the Year may lose a bit of ground.  Things are still quirky in the Big Apple, and a trade between Utah and Philadelphia may change the fantasy landscape for a few players.  With that said, this will be the last Wire to Wire for 2007.  Enjoy.
